America Georgina Ferrera

Real Name: America Georgina Ferrera
Birthday: April 18, 1984
America Georgina Ferrera
Biography And Filmography:

Born on April 18, 1984 and raised in Woodland Hills, CA., America Ferrera’s parents came to the United States from Honduras in the 1970’s. After arriving in America, her mom divorced her father and raised all six kids on her own, five girls and one boy, while reinforcing the importance of school and education. All six children graduated from college, and she received her degree in International Relations from the University of California, while she pursued acting during breaks and summer vacations.

By the time America was just eight years old, when she performed in a small school production of Hamlet, she knew that she wanted to be an actress and performer. She performed in school plays and small community theaters throughout Los Angeles, but without the approval of her mother, who insisted that she pursue other interests geared toward the business world.

At age sixteen, the actress signed a contract with a talent agency and manager and started auditioning for television and print commercials and other show business projects. Her first big break came at age seventeen when she was cast as one the championship dancers in the Disney Channel’s TV movie “Gotta Kick It Up” in 2002. Executives were impressed with her performance and was hired and cast is the lead in the dramatic comedy “Real Women Have Curves” (2002), portraying a young Latina girl determined to go to college to follow her writing dreams instead of staying with her family and work in a dressmaking factory.

Ferrera was then cast to play a young high school student with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in “Touched By an Angel”, and was then hired for the role of a pregnant young teen thrown out of her house in “Plainsong” (2004) with Rachel Griffiths. After a guest appearance in an episode of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” in 2000, she was next cast as the skateboarding groupie, Thunder Monkey, in “Lords of Dogtown” (2005) featuring Heath Ledger. The film follows the surf and skateboarding culture and trends that originated in Venice, California during the 1970's.

The star got her first big-league starring role in the adventure comedy “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” (2005) starring alongside Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively and Jenna Boyd, about four best girlfriends who hatch a plan to stay connected with one another as their lives start off in different directions: they pass around a pair of secondhand jeans that fits each of their bodies perfectly.

She took a breather from movie making when she was cast to portray the lead role in the one-hour television drama “Ugly Betty” (2006). America played the role of Betty Suarez, a smart, sweet and hard working person. The only problem is that she's not thin and beautiful like all her coworkers at Mode Magazine, the high-fashion magazine where she works. "Ugly Betty" became an overnight smash hit with audiences and critics alike and shot to the tops of the ratings chart within months of its debut.

America Georgina Ferrera

Her performance in "Ugly Betty" won her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series. In all, the show has been nominated for 43 different awards and won 32 of them.

Riding high on the critical success of "Ugly Betty", Ferrera had become an overnight sensation and true Hollywood celebrity. During breaks from "Ugly Betty" taping, the actress lent her distinctive voice talent to the animated family adventure film "Tinker Bell" (2008) working with Raven-Symoné, Lucy Liu and Jesse McCartney. The film is a cute story about Tinker Bell, who uses the power of imagination to save Pixie Hollow, the home of all fairies, by finding out the true magic of Pixie Dust.

The following year she was hired for another leading role in the dramatic "An Invisible Sign of My Own", about a young math teacher (Ferrera) who uses the subject to help her students with their own crises. The actress wrapped her year with more voice work in the animated adventure "How To Train Your Dragon". America lent her voice to the character of Astrid, in a story about the son of a Viking who trains his scrawny, toothless dragon to be a brave hero. Based on Cressida Cowell's children's book, "How to Train Your Dragon."

Blake Christina Lively

Blake Christina Lively
Blake Christina Lively
Real Name: Blake Christina Lively
Birthday: August 25, 1987

Biography And Filmography:

At the tender age of 17, Blake Lively stepped into the Hollywood limelight, along with her fellow young teen co-stars America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn, to star in her first major movie role in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” (2005). Following her standout role in “Sisterhood”, she put school on hold and followed the family tradition of show business, later gaining an even larger celebrity bump by landing the lead role on the smash hit CW television drama, “Gossip Girl” (2007- ).

Born on Aug. 25, 1987, Blake was raised in Tarzana, California in a show business family. Her father, Ernie, was a veteran Hollywood actor and director; her mother, Elaine, a celebrity talent agent. She was the youngest of five children, a herd which included her acting brothers Jason and Eric, and actress sisters Robyn and Lori. When Blake was five years old she lost out on a major role in the Robin Williams family comedy “Mrs. Doubtfire” (1993). By age 11, she had made her big screen acting debut in the movie, “Sandman” (1998) starring Steve Susskind, but the experience discouraged her and Lively considered leaving the movie business.

Lively realized she had no interest in acting and decided not to go into the family business, as there were plenty of brothers and sisters to carry the torch. Instead, she focused on her studies at Burbank High School and became a nationally recognized choir and vocal singer and a popular student at the school, as the class president and a cheerleader.

Even with her love for school, her family convinced her that she had the family gift and would return to show business given the right set of circumstances. A year later, her older brother introduced her to his talent agent, insisting she should try her hand at auditioning again. The agent sent her on an audition for the feature film “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” (2005) based on the popular book series. Even with no formal acting experience, the producers saw a spark in the young actress and gave her the role of Bridget. The movie set out to tell the tale of four best girlfriends who hatch a plan to stay connected with one another as their lives start off in different directions: they pass around a pair of secondhand jeans that fits each of their bodies perfectly.

By the time she was a high school senior, she had been struck by the acting bug and passed on an opportunity to attend Stanford University in 2005 in order to pursue her show business career. She next took a role in her father’s horror movie “Simon Says” (2007) starring Crispin Glover, where she worked with her sisters, Lori and Robyn, as the terrorized victims of crazy killer Crispin Glover.

“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” was released in June 2005 to wonderful reviews and quickly became a box office hit. Blake was then hired and cast as Monica in the college comedy “Accepted” (2006) with Justin Long and Jonah Hill. "Accepted" tells the story of a high school burnout who discovers he's been rejected from every college he's applied to so he creates a fake university in order to fool his overzealous parents.

Lively then accepted a role in the dramatic independent film “Elvis and Anabelle” (2007) starring Joe Mantegna, Mary Steenburgen and Keith Carradine where she portrayed a dead beauty queen resurrected by the kiss of Max Minghella’s morgue worker. In 2008 she starred in the sequel "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" (2008). Her status as Hollywood celebrity and movie star had been cemented.

Wanting to broaden her appeal and experience, the actress auditioned for the role of the anchoring actress on the television pilot for “Gossip Girl” (2007), a young teen drama series for The CW based on the series of Cecily Von Ziegesar books. She was cast in the role of Serena, a savvy girl living inside New York’s privileged and corrupted world of private schools. When the series premiered in the fall of 2007, it became a runaway smash hit.

During her down time from taping "Gossip Girls", she appeared in the romantic drama "New York, I love You" working with an all-star cast that included the young Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman, Rachel Bilson, Hayden Christensen, Orlando Bloom, Kevin Bacon and Ethan Hawke. The film is an anthology film joining several love stories set in one of the most loved cities of the world, New York. Twelve writes are asked to create a five minute mini-movie about New York City and the people who live there.

Now a seasoned actress and movie star, she wrapped her year taking the starring role in the dramatic "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" (2009) starring Lively and Keanu Reeves, where after her much older husband forces a move to a suburban retirement community, Pippa Lee engages in a period of reflection and finds herself heading toward a quiet nervous breakdown.

Selena Marie Gomez

Real Name: Selena Marie Gomez
Birthday: July 22, 1992

Biography And Filmography:

She is being called the next Miley Cyrus and for good reason. Selena Gomez took the world by storm in the starring role of Alex Russo in the smash hit Disney Channel television series “Wizards of Waverly Place” (2007) playing a New York young teen girl with magical powers. While other young teen celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Hilary Duff grabbed new fans with their cloths and luxurious Hollywood lifestyle, Gomez chose tennis shoes and an 1980's hard rock groupie chic look, and she still had young fans hopeful to be just like her.

Selena Marie Gomez was born on July 22, 1992 in New York, but grew up an only child in Grand Prairie Rexas. Her mother, Mandy Teefy, was a stage actress who encouraged her daughter to seek a career in the entertainment business. Her first acting job was “Barney & Friends” in 1992 where she portrayed Gianna, one of the purple dinosaur’s singing and dancing friends. It was during this audition that she met her best friend and co-star Demi Lovato. Lovato herself became a Disney star when she was hired and cast in the starring role alongside the Jonas Brothers in the 2008 television movie “Camp Rock.”.

Selena Marie Gomez

When Selena was only ten years old, she participated in a Disney nationwide talent search and they fell in love with her immediately. She appeared in an episode of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” starring Cole Sprouse and Dylan Sprouse , followed by a returning guest role on the Disney network’s hit series “Hannah Montana” (2006- ) starring Cyrus. She played Mikayla, a opposing rock star to Hannah Montana. Portraying enemies on the sitcom, as well as a YouTube video Miley posted in 2008 that seemed to make fun of Gomez and her best friend Lovato, had many fans wondering whether the two celebrities were fighting in real life. The young actress laughed at the prospect, saying “I think Miley’s a wonderful performer. It’s all good.”

Her wonderful guest spots on the Disney Channel were enough for the network to give her a starring role in the television comedy series “Wizards of Waverly Place.” The young teen was side-splitting as middle child Alex Russo in the series. It also gave the actress the chance to grow with the Disney family, and they were more than happy to advertise her as one of the network's biggest and up and coming stars.

In 2008, she lent her voice to the animated character Helga in the star studded movie "Horton Hears A Who" starring Jim Carrey, Steve Carell and Carol Burnett, about Horton the Elephant who struggles to protect a microscopic community from his neighbors who refuse to believe it exists.

The young actress got another big break being hired and cast in the starring role in the musical comedy "Another Cinderella Story" (2008), a sequel to the first Disney Cinderella Story but with a modern twist. The film centers around a young dancer who meets a guy (Drew Seeley) at a ball where she drops her ipod while rushing out.

Gomez has also teamed with her friend Lovato in the television movie “Princess Protection Program” (2009), a family comedy about when a small country is invaded by a dictator and a young Princess is taken into custody by the Princess Protection Program. She is whisked away to rural Wisconsin where she must learn the ins and outs of behaving like a normal American teenager.

Selena also appeared in the Jonas Brothers’ music video for the song “Burnin’ Up” in July 2008 as youngest brother Nick’s onscreen girlfriend.

Keep your eyes on the young celebrity because you have not seen the last of this talented actress. We suspect that when Disney sets out to create the next Miley Cyrus sensation they will stop at little to make it happen.

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler
Real Name: Amy Poehler
Birthday: September 16, 1971

Biography And Filmography

A veteran of improvisational comedy, comedian and movie actress Amy Poehler started her show business career while still a college student in Boston Massachusetts. Known for her impersonations, Poehler’s breakthrough role came as an ensemble cast member of “Saturday Night Live” in 2001, where she portrayed such Hollywood celebrities as Kelly Ripa, Avril Lavigne and Sharon Osbourne. The wife of fellow actor and comedian, Will Arnette, she started her movie career slowly, appearing in such comedies as "Duce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" with Rob Schneider, “Mean Girls” (2004) with Lindsay Lohan, “Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny” (2006) with Jack Black and “Blades of Glory” (2007) with fellow SNL cast member Will Ferrell.

The daughter of retired high school teachers Bill and Eileen, Amy was born in Burlington, Massachusetts on Sept. 16, 1971. Overly energetic since early childhood, she seemed determined to be a comedy actor. Poehler attended Boston College after graduating in 1993. At Boston, she attempted a degree in media and communications by day, and performed stand-up comedy at the local comedy clubs by night and quickly became a smash hit on the Boston comedy scene.

After graduation, Poehler moved to Chicago Illinois and became active in improvisational workshops at Second City and later, the Improv Olympics, where she worked with famous comedy coach Del Close – a teacher to other “SNL” cast members like Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and Chris Farley. During her stay in Chicago, she joined the "Upright Citizens Brigade", a sketch improv group created by Matt Besser and Horatio Sans. She and fellow U.C.B. cast member Matt Walsh led the attempt to move the comedy troupe to New York City in the late 1990s. Once in New York, it was not long before the troupe received its own television show on Comedy Central – “The Upright Citizens Brigade” (1998-2000). She was both a writer and performer on the series. During the shows three-season run, “The Upright Citizen’s Brigade” became a cult classic and gained a loyal fan base.

On the small screen, the comedian created the character of Stacey Richter – the young sister of co-host Andy Richter – on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”. In 2001, she hit the big time when she was hired at “Saturday Night Live,” as a featured player. Promoted to a full cast member less than eight months later, she was only the second cast member in “SNL” history to receive a promotion in the middle of a season – with Eddie Murphy being the first. She was given the coveted co-anchor spot on “Weekend Update,” replacing Jimmy Fallon.

Her first major movie role was in the Ben Stiller and Jack Black comedy “Envy” (2004) featuring Rachel Weisz and Christopher Walken, about a man who becomes increasingly jealous of his friend's newfound success. She struck gold with her next movie with Lindsay Lohan in “Mean Girls” (2004). Released to theaters the same day as “Envy,” “Mean Girls” was written by her fellow “S.N.L.” cast member Tina Fey and took the top spot during its opening weekend. After a small cameo appearance as a waitress in Jack Black's 2006’s “Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny,” she appeared as herself in “Man of the Year” (2006).

In 2007, she teamed with fellow SNL cast members Cheri Oteri, Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy as one of the classic fairy tale princesses imprisoned by Prince Charming in the animated, “Shrek the Third”. Hired and cast as the voice of Snow White, she gave her usual sarcasm to a character well known for her beauty, virtue and purity. Also that year, the actress appeared in the sport comedy " Mr. Woodcock" starring Billy Bob Thornton and Susan Sarandon, a film about a young man who is taken aback by his mother's wedding announcement and returns home in an effort to stop her from marrying his old high school gym teacher, a man who made high school hell for generations of students.

In 2008, Poehler joined with funny man Jim Carrey in the animated comedy "Horton Hears A Who" working with an impressive cast that included Steve Carell, Carol Burnett, Seth Rogen and Jesse McCartney, where Horton the Elephant struggles to protect a microscopic community from his neighbors who refuse to believe it exists. Amy then appeared in the comedy "Baby Momma" (2008) alongside fellow SNL cast member Tina Fey and funny man Greg Kinnear. The film tells the story of a successful, single businesswoman who dreams of having a baby and discovers she is infertile and hires a working class woman to be her unlikely surrogate.

Riding a wave of success, the actress next was hired and cast in the comedy "Spring Breakdown" (2008) starring Rachel Dratch, about three women who vacation together at a popular travel destination for college co-eds on spring break. She then lent her voice to the animated Gretel character in "Hoodwinked 2: Hood vs. Evil" starring Hayden Panettiere as Little Red Riding Hood, Bill Hader as Hansel, Patrick Warburton as the wolf, Glenn Close as Granny and Brad Garrett as the Giant. The movie tells the story of Little Red Riding Hood, who is training in the group of "Sister Hoods", when her and the Wolf get called away to examine the sudden and mysterious disappearance of Hansel and Gretel.
